Sport & Remedial Massage

Massage/soft tissue therapy – call it what you may – has a long list of benefits and there are still instances when I am surprised by just how effective it can be. I use massage both as a stand-alone treatment – many people enjoy and feel a mental and/or physical benefit from 50 minutes of specific, targeted soft tissue work – and also as a part of Physiotherapy treatment, where there is generally some ‘hands-on’ aspect to effecting¬†improvements.

A few of the (in)direct benefits that I see are:

  • Reduced pain & discomfort
  • Reduced stress & anxiety
  • Promoted relaxation
  • Improved speed & quality of healing in soft tissue injuries
  • Improved sleep patterns
  • Improved circulation
  • Reduced swelling/oedema
  • Released endorphins, the body’s “feel good” chemicals
  • Simulated flow of lymph (body waste products) towards the lymph glands to help eliminate them
  • Help in the management of chronic problems
