Your Therapist

I studied Physiotherapy at Leeds Metropolitan University and later trained in sport and remedial massage.

I combine massage, the instinctive healing method that has been utilised for thousands of years with the more modern discipline of Physiotherapy, both techniques now being firmly validated by scientific evidence. My approach bridges a gap in the therapeutic techniques generally offered by similar practitioners. I also use Clinical Pilates as a treatment for physical problems, as well as teaching and applying Pilates in a more general class-based setting several times a week (see Pilates for more details).

My aim via these methods is to provide a more holistic experience offering a wider range of treatment options, thereby improving recovery time and promoting better long-term benefits.

I moved to Hebden Bridge from Manchester in 2009 shortly after having my first child. I had always wanted to be self-employed and decided that it was time to take the leap so I set up Calder Massage & Physiotherapy. I participate in numerous sports and have done so all of my life – I’m a regular fell-runner and a keen cyclist, having competed in a number of adventure races, cycle-toured solo across Europe and ridden from Lands End to John O’Groats off-road. I also rock-climbed in both the UK and abroad for a number of years, I hold a qualification in counselling (HGDip), teach Pilates (see Pilates page) and can sometimes be seen and heard playing the violin at events locally.

With the powerful combination of massage, physiotherapy & Pilates and a life-long fascination with the human body, I find myself in a position where I can genuinely help people improve their lives and make a difference.
